Meet Our New CEO, Tim Egan

After an extensive search, Mobile C.A.R.E. Foundation (MCF) has decided to name Tim Egan, most recently a Vice President of Norwegian American Hospital, as its new Chief Executive Officer. The naming of Mr. Egan is the initial step in a multi-year plan to expand MCF services beyond asthma care to other common but often under-treated aspects of pediatric health such as diabetes maintenance, general medicine, and dental health.

“We will always be an organization that specializes in lung health,” says Board Chair Jonathan Weatherly. “It’s what we’re great at, and we’ve been providing these services for 15 years. But we are looking at a landscape in which many of our patients are impacted by other equally urgent health concerns like diabetes, dental care, and a lack of general preventative medicine. Tim has an expansive sense of mission and a lot of experience in mobile medicine.”

MCF’s Asthma Vans currently serve over 1,000 low-income asthmatic children per year through close to 40 schools, and also provide free asthma screenings and diagnosis for thousands more. While asthma was the number one cause of both preventable hospitalizations and school absenteeism in Chicago last year, Asthma Vans cut hospitalization and absenteeism rates to near zero.

Tim Egan was at Norwegian American Hospital for 10 years. During that time, he launched and then operated the hospital’s Care-A-Van, a mobile clinic providing complementary physicals, immunizations, hearing and vision screenings, and pulmonary function testing to children in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

Meet Tim on October 8th @ O’Brien’s Restaurant and Bar for MCF’s first Happy Hour
