This month Mobile Care Chicago transitioned from epinephrine auto-injectors to Neffy, an epinephrine nasal spray.
Neffy offers several advantages over traditional auto-injectors:
- Longer shelf life (30 months vs. 12–18 months)
- More cost-effective in the long run
- Non-invasive—administered via nasal inhalation instead of an intramuscular injection
- Painless and less intimidating, especially for children
- More temperature stable, withstanding exposure up to 122°F (50°C) and remaining effective even after freezing and thawing
- Compact and easy to carry
Traditional epinephrine auto-injectors require strict temperature control (68–77°F, with limited excursions up to 86°F) and cannot be refrigerated or frozen. In contrast, Neffy’s stability makes it a more reliable option for mobile healthcare, where exposure to varying temperatures is inevitable. Given the fear and anxiety surrounding traditional epinephrine injections, Neffy could be a game-changer for our patients.
We are excited to incorporate Neffy into our care model, ensuring that children in our community have access to the best possible treatment options.
