Former Associate Executive Director brings over 14 years of experience, community roots, and a commitment to expanding healthcare access for children and families.
CHICAGO, IL — Mobile Care Chicago, a nonprofit organization providing no-cost healthcare services to children and families aboard mobile medical clinics, is proud to announce the appointment of Kamari Thompson as its new Executive Director.
Thompson assumes the role following the tragic loss of Mobile Care Chicago’s Executive Director, Matt Siemer, who passed away in a car accident in December 2025. A beloved leader and tireless advocate for children and families, Siemer led the organization for more than 10 years and helped expand its impact throughout the Chicago region.
Over the past six months, Thompson provided steady leadership during one of the most challenging periods in the organization’s history. As Interim Executive Director, she helped ensure that Mobile Care Chicago’s programs, partnerships, and patient services continued without interruption while supporting staff, patients, and community partners through the transition.
“Kamari’s leadership over the past six months has been extraordinary,” said Bob Gordon, Board Chair of Mobile Care Chicago. “During a period of immense loss, she ensured that our services continued uninterrupted, our staff remained supported, and our commitment to patients never wavered. Her steady leadership, deep institutional knowledge, and dedication to our mission made her the clear choice to lead Mobile Care Chicago into its next chapter.”
Thompson brings 14 years of experience with Mobile Care Chicago and has played a pivotal role in shaping many of the organization’s most impactful programs. She joined the organization in 2012 as Coordinator of the Childhood Asthma Initiative and quickly established herself as a leader committed to improving health outcomes for children and families facing barriers to care.
Among her many accomplishments, Thompson led the 2014 Roseland Community Initiative, a collaboration between Mobile Care Chicago and Roseland Community Hospital that reduced pediatric emergency department utilization for asthma by 84%.
Throughout her tenure, she has held a series of increasingly senior leadership positions overseeing patient services, community engagement, and program operations, ultimately serving as Director of Programs and later Associate Executive Director.
Thompson’s connection to Mobile Care Chicago’s mission is deeply personal. Having grown up in one of the communities the organization serves today, she understands firsthand many of the barriers that children and families face when trying to access healthcare. That lived experience has informed her work throughout her career and strengthened her commitment to advancing health equity and ensuring that every child has access to high-quality care, regardless of their circumstances.
Known for her commitment to health equity, Thompson has dedicated her career to expanding access to healthcare for populations with the greatest need. Her leadership has helped strengthen Mobile Care Chicago’s programs, deepen community partnerships, and improve outcomes for thousands of children and families across the region.
Under Thompson’s leadership, Mobile Care Chicago has continued to grow and innovate, recently expanding its Mobile Dental Program and launching its new Dental Van in partnership with the White Sox, which will bring oral healthcare directly to even more children throughout the Chicago area.

For the past 14 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside an incredible team dedicated to removing those barriers for children and families. Matt’s compassion, vision, and unwavering commitment to our patients inspired so many of us. Over the last six months, our team has worked tirelessly to honor that legacy by continuing to show up for the families who rely on us every day. I am honored to serve as Executive Director and look forward to leading Mobile Care Chicago as we continue expanding access to care throughout our communities.”
